Clear coated headlight restoration

Hello friends :)

I got a pair of headlights of a Peugeot 405 which had clear coat sprayed on it.

Actually the headlights got from bad to worst, from "CLEAR COATED TO CATARACT COATED"

And it took long, long hours to restore. Thanks God, it's got its vision.

Wet-sanding - 800, 1000, 2000 grit used alternately and inch by inch testing. the aim was to remove the clear coat and the scratches, and not go any further

As above, never use clear coat on the headlights.

thanks for viewing. your thoughts and comments are most welcome.

Wow those were terrible!!! Great job saving those!

Go ahead and clear the headlights if you must... But damn, do some proper prep first!!! Wow! I tinted my tail lights once with clear coat mixed with just a little bit of single stage black paint. Came out beautiful. I sanded them to 600 grit before spraying them though.

Thank u Shane.

on this pair of headlights the painter sprayed only the clear and did that horribly.

I guess the owner will want to tint the headlights

Wow, beautiful result! You are a brave but highly skilled man. I'm guessing that the molded ID marks had to be removed?

Thanks a lot Jimmie

the results are a blessing from Above.

The molded marks i don't think they can be removed, they are factory molded

cheers

Nice work. I'd be interested in seeing these at 3 and 6 months out. If you can please show us how these hold up.
