Clear coat on headlights starting to fog up - Help!

Hey everyone. I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. These cars have a notorious problem with the clear coat on the headlights peeling.

Unfortunately, mine are starting to get foggy around the edges, and I think that they will start peeling soon.

Have any of you seen this problem, and how do you think I can polish this out? I have some Meg's PlastX, but I am a little concerned about the clear. What about the Meg's #17 Clear plastic cleaner? I just found the local Meg's dealer so I have access to that also.

I will have to do it by hand, I do not have a PC or buffer.

Thanks!

That sure sounds troubling :(. I'm guessing this clear coat material on the Mitsubishi lights is for UV protection/better light augmentation as I'm not familar with that type of coating typically being present on headlight housings.

I'm not sure if one of several "headlight restoration kits" may help because it doesn't sound like marring or scratching is the issue, it's actual lifitng and failure of the coating, like clear coat failure on a finish :(

Hmm..perhaps if you can get it under control a pair of headlight protectants such as Xpel may keep it at a bay :dunno
