Cleaning Yellowed Headlamps

Somebody said that one type of head light plastic you can sand, and another kind you cant as it only gets worse and actually melts the plastic. It was on another thread around here somewhere...
 
This has been a very comon problem on the Subaru SVX. The headlights yellow when exposed to the sun over time. I have used Eagle One Small Scratch Remover and it has turned yellow headlights into clear lights again. There are others who have used the different metal or plastic polishes and they seem to work too. I would be very careful using a buffer on them because of the heat though. :)
