Cleaning the LCD on my Nav.

I was wondering what I can use to clean my LCD screen on my navigation system. Looks like when take my car to a car wash (I know, I know bad me, I stopped doing it) the people there cleaned it with a wet towel so there are streaks. I was wondering what I can use to spray down my screen to clean it. My friend suggested Lens cleaner for glasses to clean it. What do you guys normally use? Some tips and product recommendations would be great.

I recommend Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer. Due to its versatility, I mist/spray it lightly everywhere in my interior (dashboards, screens, gauges, anywhere except cloth) and wipe off with MF towel. It leaves absolutely zero residue...definitely convenient.

...and you can pick it up at the local Pep Boys.

All good suggestions. I'd go with Plexus and #425 if you have them both. QID will be the easiest to get.

I'm starting to lean towards the Plexus. I may buy a bottle of #425 to try it out. They seem to have a lot of good products. Hey GSRstilez do you use any of their other products? Just curious? Also what else do you use the #425 for. Thanks.

If the NAV screen is a touch sensitive screen, then you must be very careful. Use only MF towels and glass cleaner with no amonia (did I spell that correctly?). Use a glass cleaner designed for tinted windows. Touch screens (my Lexus Nav screen has one) have a coating that can be damaged with normal glass cleaners.

God only knows what those guys at the car wash used on it, or what kind of grit was in their cloths.

I treat mine like I treat my plasma screen -- very carefully with special MF towels and cleaner.

If the screen is not a touch sensitive screen, then I don't think you have to do anything special, although I would not clean it with anything more abrasive than a MF towel.

I agree. You should never EVER clean plastic of any type with an ammonia based glass cleaner. While the non-ammonia glass cleaner may clean off your finger prints IMO you should leave the glass cleaner for glass. Plexus, which is designed for use on plastic, cleans and protects the plastic. It's also anti-static so it should cut down on the dust as well. So, it has a leg up on glass cleaners. Definitely though use a good MF towel to apply and buff off.

would these same products be fine for gauge cluster cleaning? My cluster is geting kinda dusty, but i dont want to scratch it.

I always use Plexus on the gauge cluster when I detail a car. My car has an LCD gauge cluster so it's particularly sensitive to scratching. However, Plexus also does a great job on hard clear plastic gauge cluster. I really love to use it on headlights, tail lamps, and fog lights too. Make sure to use a MF though to guard against scratching.

I use this with a microfiber very gently...

I've used this stuff with great success inside my house on my PC, home theater equipment, TV, etc. It's great.

I don't sell Plexus or anything but its a product I use and believe in. So, I keep pushing it. I would still recommend Plexus over Endust for Electronics because Plexus has the protective element that Endust does not. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. I'm just doing a compare & contrast when people suggest alternatives.

I use Megs QD and plush MF on my Uniden touch-screen GPS. QID works well for cleaning, but I found the silicones left behind by Megs QD (or any QD, for that matter) makes the surface slicker and reduces fingerprints. Megs QID (which I love) cleans well but doesn't reduce fingerprinting.

I used to use an Oakley sunglasses bag to clean my Alpine touch-screen. Might have to try the IQD on it tomorrow.

Check and see what your owners manual says. I know the TSB on Toyota touch screens states to only use a damp soft cloth. You could follow the damp cloth with a dry one to prevent streaking.

Sorry for the OT, Is plexus safe for my dell LCD? What about the screen on my DLP TV? I have some but just don't want to mess anything up.
