Cleaning snow

this is somewhat of a detailing question.......i have a new truck, black.... and i want to know what ou guys use to remove snow off of your vehicles in the winter.....



of course i want to prevent scratches and swirls..... does it matter ?

if i use a 65 dollar detailing brush or the 5 dollar brush from walgreens....the snow and salt and dirt is still " on the paint "



just wondering.... post up your suggestions...
 
Try and leave a layer if it is light snow. If it is wet then do your windows only.



The brush will cause a lot of damage itself.
 
that is what i have done so far..... eh, but now it is like 0 degrees and the truck is frozen..... leaving the frozen snow all over really bothers me.



hell, it bothered me on a 10 year old jeep.....eh,

You obviously don't want to touch the paint with anything, as there is so much dirt/salt on the paint under the snow that you'd marr the nuts out of it if you were to contact it in any way. Try to leave a centimeter or so of snow on your car when you brush it off. Obviously you can fully clean off the windows, leaving anything on there is a safety hazard.



I wrap an MF around the bristles of the snow brush, so in the off chance that I *do* happen to contact the paint, it wouldn't scratch nearly as badly as the bristles would.
 
you know, it is funny that you mention the MF wrapped brush....i wash thinking about that very thing..... but i didnt know how to hold the microfier on.... i need a rubber band or something..... i will think about it and figure something out.



i need to buy a new brush, this way the bristles are new and straight.... and i can wrap the MF around with ease.

Just drive away and watch the snow fall off. It's winter, snow itsn't going to hurt your truck.



Next time you wash it, got to a DIY wash and blow the snow off with the pressure washer.
 
it was warmer this weekend, so melting was good.



no pressure wash this weekend.... only under carriage and wheel wells...

+2 If the temps will be above 20 deg. with some sun I'll stop at the coin op and blow the rest off. below 20 let the remainder just sit till it gets above 20.

I simply duct taped the MF around the brush, obviously making sure the the duct tape was around the top of the brush where it wouldn't have a chance of contacting the paint.
 
guys.

i was trying to figure out how to successfully tape the towel.... and my mom comes over.... i asked her, i know i am nuts for doing this but do you have any ideas ?



within 2 minutes she said why not use a sock..... so i wrapped the bristles with a MF and put a sock over the " contraption "

zip tied the open end of the sock and folded the elastic part over the zip tie.



not bad,

my mom is saying she is a genious. hahahahaha
