Cleaning rubber mats...

PC + Patience = Reward!
Hello to all...I searched for this but did not get the results I wanted (maybe did not word it right). My father has a 2001 GMC 2500 Sierra that has carpet with removable rubber floor mats. After I clean them I would like to put something on them for that "new" look yet not be slippery for obvious reasons. Any ideas?
 
I'd try Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer before anything else....



Past that if you use a HIGHLY diluted water-based dressing, and make sure to apply it thin and wipe it back off right away, you might be able to avoid slippage.



FWIW, I use the QID product on the black rubber HuskyLiners in my truck and it leaves them looking as-new with no slickness whatsoever.
 
I use Meguiar's Natural Shine, does not slip on mines, BUT if you're living in cold weather, this stuff freezes and then become VERY slippery.
 
Thanks alot guys! I have the Natural Shine but will probably get the QID as I have wanted to try that product anyway. I really appreciate the input...Take care.

It doesn't freeze in Quebec? That's suprising.... I thought it got colder than that there.... :think: :cool:
 
Water based dressing does work great on rubber mats. I hung mine from a wall mounted mat holder and directly sprayed the heck out of em. An hour later it soaks in and semi dries and looks brand new. Not much slip at all.
 
Shiny, yes it does freeze here. Maybe my wording wasn't right. Also what I didn't mention is that I use it for my summer car, I only did it once on the winter beater mats and I won't do it again.



During summer, this product really is great.

I have been wanting to try 303 out so today I actually found a RV place about 5 miles from my house which stocks 303 products. I bought a 32 oz. bottle and may try it out on the mats. I'll let you know how I made out...
 
303 is usually used in situations where the UV rays of the sun are a factor, such as on vinyl upholstery on boats. You'll usually find 303 sold in most rv and boat supply stores. You can use it on your rubber floor mats, however it is a bit expensive for that purpose.
 
I use 303 on mats....I wet them down.....spray 303 on them.....brush the solution around the mat and let dry....when it's almost dry I wipe with a MF towel.....nice matte look, and not slippery
