Cleaning rubber floor mats

Life's too short. Laugh!
I was wondering if you guys have any secrets for cleaning floor mats. My wife has gray mats in her car and they look pretty bad. They seem to be stained from possibly having driveway sealer on her shoes. Kind of a brown color stain. I tried a couple different products the latest being gel wheel and tire cleaner when I detailed her Yukon today. I sprayed the cleaner on, agitated it with a brush, let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed. They look a little better, but I thought you guys and gals might have a good product/method in mind I could try. Thanks a lot. :)

When I used GM's rubber winter mats one year, I scrubbed them with a brush and a Dawn/water solution. Any tar spots or stains, I used tar remover on first.
Seemed to work pretty good, but although that car goes daily, it doesn't get much abuse.

i first will shake mine out, then spray them with the hose. next I spray a liberal amount of apc on them. Meguiars APC diluted 10:1 is what I use. I agigtate with the brush and then finally rinse them again and dry.

Are you talking about grey rubber mats? On those I just spray Meguiar's #39 all over the place and then let it sit. I scrub it down with a wheel brush that I use specifically for rubber mats. I get a lot of those around here. I have also had success with certian tire cleaners, but I get better results with #39 it seems.

If they are fabric mats then I spray them down with diluted degreaser and hit them with high pressure. I wish I had an extractor because that would make the job a lot easier. Personally I'd rather clean cloth mats than the rubber ones. The rubber ones stain easier and take more scrubbing.

Simple green work well! I have also used my tire cleaner like PB Wheel Cleaner!

With the steps that Greg mentioned!
