cleaning rain x treated windows

I have been dealing with this for a while, but i like to treat my windows with rain x or sometimes wax them.



I have been trying to clean them in between washes but have no success using micro fibers or terry cloth towels and either vinegar and water or optimum diluted.



I really don't and or won't use any strong chemicals but thought i would see if anyone else has come across this problem
 
well it cleans but it always ends up leaving a fog/haze/dry swirling. So it looks clean then a little while later the windows just look all smeared.



I really don't want to use rain x but its best just to use up chemicals then just throwing them away, or so my research has told me.



The thing for me is i hate using windshield wipers as they usually mar every car and I have been using sil blade wipers which i have found to be the best wipers i could find but hate the thought is of something scratching my windshield, so that is why i like using some kind of hydrophobic treatment on my windows
 
I have generally been able to remove old applications of Rain X with alcohol or an APC. I, like the original poster, am trying to use up my bottle and have not plans to use it again. If alcohol, APC or a degreaser does not remove Rain X, a glass polish should be able to remove. For that matter, a paint polish will probably be able to also.
 
I would agree that any kind of true APC would but for random window cleanings hadn't thought of it.



but will that completely remove the coating? I know it would be crazy to not want to remove it but i really don't, i just want clean windows again

I clean Rain-X'd glass normally with SIG and those stout, blue shop towels that come in a roll. Buff the residue with a MF WW and they come out shining and don't appear to affect the Rain-X's longevity. I've found WWs buff off glass easier and cleaner than my other MFs. YMMV.
