Cleaning/Polishing Plastic?

Hey all,

I have a question for you and I am not certain that anything can be done for this but here goes...

My wife has a 2001 BMW 325ci. The headlight lenses on this car are made of some type of plastic. Due to lots of highway driving, the lenses have become pretty well scuffed up, scratched, nicked, well you get the idea. :)

Is there anything that can be done to sorta buff, clean, polish and or help to eliminate some of the scarring? Or are they doomed and the only thing that can be done is install new ones.

Thank you in advance,

Jag

With scratched and oxidated lenses, I have had success with Megs PlastX polish. I have also used chrome polish on some lenses with success but Megs works really well.

Thanks I will have to check that stuff out. Can it be purchased at like a Pepboys or Autozone? Or is it pretty much an online type order.

Thanks again!

Go to goodspeedmotoring.com and join their special member section. There is an article on restoring plastic lenses.

Yoiu can also do a search on here for that as well. One thread can't remember shich one as pics on how to wet sand which coud be a soloution

Plast X is widely available at stores. I think you might even find it at Wal-Mart (US).

Thanks for the info all. I will be sure to let you guys know what I used and how the results went, when I get around to it.
