Cleaning foam pads in the washer?

Just wondering if this is good or not?

I tried it on 2 White and 1 Orange LC Pads, and it seems to be ok after one wash... makes life alot easier, but what about in the long run?

I noticed the "foam" inside microfiber hand applicators get easily destroyed in the washer, but wasn't sure if it's because of how soft they are...

My sonus pads says to hand wash, but it's such a chore, kneeding it out a 100 times to make sure it's clean!

I wash as needed usually once or twice a year to clean the foam pads up. I use simple green and the pads clean up well. No velcro failure or other effects seen yet.

I always wash my hand applicators and PC pads by hand. I don't think the washing machine would be able to clean them very well. The scrubbing and kneading is what gets them clean.

I usually let it soak for a good half hour or so in dish washing liquid and water to loosen up all the gunk inside. After that I take the hose and and spray everything out. You can see the pressure of the water removing all the old, loose polish build-up and your left with a brand new pad.

Does anyone know if washing pads with pressure water will wear them down quickly??

I usually hand wash my PC pads, but for the ones that are on their way out, I've been throwing them in the washer machine. They come out pretty clean, but really collect a lot of lint. I have to go over them with a lint brush to get everything off.

oh too bad, the pads came out really nice and clean in the washer after washing by hand left alot of color in my LC Whites.

I don't see what would get the pads really clean. The washing machine can't really grab the pads to scrub them, so basically the pads just move around in the water and soak.

I think leaving them to soak in a bucket and scrubbing them by hand would work a lot better. It does for me anyway.

I have washed my LC pads in the washer a few times. I noticed that the pads i have trouble with are the ones I have washed in the washer. My main problem is the velcro releasing from the pad itself. Now the pads I soak in warm water and dawn, then run under hot water seem to hold up just fine.

I recently (last night after reading this post) washed a load of edge pads in the washing machine,

The load was made up of both 6" and 8" pads of velcro and edge 2000 pads. I used powder washing detergent on a medium heat.

The pads came up very clean, and smelt good too.

There was no visable issues with glue for velcro and glue on edge 2000 pads. I had previously tried this method with older Meguiars pads and the velcro came off on 5 different pads. This was before they changed their pad adhesive, I think they are more durable now. 3M pads are also fine in the washing machine.
