Cleaning Foam Pads For PC

I have a bunch of PC pads that I would like to clean but what is the process to cleaning them. One way was for me to put it on the rotary and clean them off with a brush, while that seemed to take off the residual I would still get small specs of dust on the car when I use it to detail with my PC. What I am afraid of is that those little tiny dust balls are or may be creating little microscratches on the surface of the vehicle. What should I do?:nixweiss Any input would be greatly appricated

I let mine soak in a bucket with dawn, and occasionally squeeze them to work in the detergent and work out the product. After they have soaked a while I rinse them out real well, and squeeze out the excess moisture. For the final dry I put them on a rotary and spin them in a bucket (so the water doesn’t go everywhere). They come out pretty dry at this point, but I let them fully air dry for a day or two and then put them in a ziplock bag labeled with whatever product they’ve been used for.

When my wife was not looking I ran mine through the dish washer. Worked great.

That might work, or the washing machine, but the best and easiest way to keep them clean is to keep a bucket of soap and water while you detail and clean them right after you use them. Most the polish should come right off with some light rubbing.

Would I have to use the same product that pad that I cleaned or could I just go to another product. Would that make a difference, I ask that because the pad is clean so IMOP I should be able to use a different product on that cleaned pad right?

I use Gold Class as my car wash and I just put my pads in some Gold Class in a bucket for about an hour and then rinse em out. I use the PC to spin dry em starting at 1 then working up to 6 so I don't blow the pad out.

I don’t mix products/pads because of cross contamination. Although my pads come out pretty clean I think there may be a chance of some product residue deep in the pad. It’s just not worth the risk of messing up a detail to re-use a pad with a different product.

Others may have different views on re-using pads, the above is just MHO.

I have all velcro backed pads and use the washing machine with Tide. I run it on medium so there's lots of water.

It works awesome, the spin cycle get them fairly dry too. Per the instructions with the pads I don't use the dryer...

HiTemp Prep Wash solution. Throw pads in bucket and rinse / scrub with hose or hand. Easy as heck. The best way is to ALWAYS soak your pads after a detail. Products that sit do wacky things to pads.
