cleaning floors

Just curious what you recommend to clean the floors of a car that has no carpet or mats, just the plastic flooring... the car is used everyday and dirt is tracked in like crazy....

After a vacuuming, What do you spray on it to clean it? And do u then vacuum up the excess or just wipe it down? I'll go through a lot of towels that way... or is that the only way u suggest ..

thanks

derek

You can vacuum if you want to, but i would get rubber floor mats so you can take them out and shake most of the dirt off. And then just use a bucket with warm water, a towel and an APC in a spray bottle on the floor. Spray the APC, and use the wet towel to clean everything..

A good APC works great on this type of floor... Of course anything citrus based will work even better. Pretty sure I have a few examples kicking around..

Here's a Tow Truck I did last summer..

And after citrus APC and a lot of scrubbing.

And then here's a Ford F-150 with the same type of floors (ie work truck)

Just got to scrub them good.

Jakerooni- WOW  That's the kind of transformation I simply love seeing...more interesting than an exotic IMO. Heh heh, probably more a testement to your abilities than those of the product though ;)

Derek G- On rubber floors I usually do soak it up with towels. I try to *not* get things so wet as to require the extractor. Like Jakerooni, I use whatever APC is handy, but note that *some* will do weird things to plastic/rubber, leaving it white or otherwise messed up. And it's not like dressing the floor is a good idea if that happens ;)

Derek, if you have access to a steamer, that would be a safe and effective way to go. I've used it at times on the floors in my truck with satisfactory results.

I talked to an old timer who swore by Murphy's Oil Soap.? May be worth a try.

Otherwise, APC is probably your best bet.

Test it first in the usual "small, inconspicuous area" to make sure it doesn't have an adverse effect on the plastic.
