Cleaning black window trim

What do you guys recommend for cleaning/revujenating the black trim around windows and such that some manufacturers use? It's metal, painted black, but it doesn't seem to have a clear-coat on it. This stuff fades, oxidizes and looks quite bad compared to the paint. AIO didn't seem to help much.



Any help is appreciated.
 
I use trim dressing on all of that "plasticized metal." It works well and I haven't seen or heard of any ill-effects of doing so. I've had great results with Megs Gold Class Trim Detailer, and am currently using #39 followed by #38, to see how I like it.
 
I like Meg's Deep Crysal Polish on that stuff. It worked great on the black metal stuff on my 83 Monte Carlo.
 
You gotta be a little careful with that kind of trim; I've worn its finish off on the XJS by using too-strong, abrasive polishes on it too often. But it took *many* years to do that.



My current regimen is to clean it with AIO and top with either SG or BFII. I *really* like the AIO/BF- it looks "rich" and it lasts. No problems in the rain or after washes, no dust attraction problems, no slimy stuff, etc. I'm doing this on *all* the (non-rubber) exterior trim on all our vehicles, no downside as best I can tell. Even works well on the '84 Volvo, which is outside 24/7.



Another thing that works well is VM, but it's a little abrasive.
