Cleaning around emblems

Anyone have any tips or tricks to doing this?

I haven't been sucessful in cleaning around the letters in my GTO badge or my 5.7 badge since I bought the car for fear of scratching the paint. Anyone have any ideas?

I us sharpened swab sticks or toothpicks to push MF or cotton (pull the head off a Q-tip) into the tight spots. You do, of course, have to be careful that you don't mar the paint by letting the stick poke through.

But then I usually debadge my vehicles, thus avoiding the whole issue :D Can't always do it though, and the above method has worked well for me.

How about a "soft" rated toothbrush with a little QD? I have this white buildup (minimal) around my "TOYOTA" and "TACOMA" logos on my tailgate, which I assume to be a polish from the dealership. It flakes off with my fingernail, but there's too much to do that. I thought I could get rid of it this weekend with the toothbrush method?
