Cleaning and Sealing this Wheel

I can clean and seal this wheel fairly easily, except for the inside! What techniques have you/would you use?

EDIT: Also, is the inside usually cleaned? Some cars have nice wide spokes it would be easy to get in there, but this one . . . :sadwavey:

Thanks!

You mean in between the spokes, right, near the tire? I don't think you mean behind the wheel in the fender well...

Every now and then I take my wheels off, clean them and wax them (with WheelWax). It sounds like a lot of trouble but it makes subsequent cleanings easier. And while the wheels are off I clean the fender well.

Hmmm. . . not so much in between the spokes, but what lies . . . beyond the spokes. The metal rims that the tires sits on. The inside of the rims. It looks just like a big cylinder . . . it is what you would see if the tire were mounted the other/opposite way. Definitely not the fender well.

Thanks.

Be advised that if you plan on removing those wheels to clean the back side that they are HEAVY AS ALL HELL!

That said, I'd just clean the face and let the dark "background" continue to grow darker.

Yeah, I hear they're over 75lbs! I don't think I will be picking them up ever!!! Wonder if I can just put the van on jack stands and get at them that way . . .

Now, I'm mighty curious about cleaning the face and leaving the insides alone. Won't the clearcoat eventually give way there and then the deterioration spread to the face? (I'm planning on keeping the van for at least 10 years; longer if it lasts!)

Thanks.

I am in the same boat and been looking for a solution. I have a little more space between the spokes of my wheel, but I get left with some shadows behind the spokes which bug me.

I have seen a few spoke brushes, but I have never tried one. Anyone have any use spoke brushes to clean behind?

This is the one I was looking at:

regardless of getting a spoke brush I am definatly going to take care of my wheels this winter after I put on my winter wheels. I plan to wash (maybe clay) and then wax.

Any suggestions on what I wax would work best on a wheel like the one pictured in this post?

Just got my EZ Detail brush today and will be using soon, will let you know how it works out. I hope this works out for me.:usa

zoomzoom mazda5 - defiantly let me know how it goes with that brush. I have been thinking of picking one up.

MrAP - Thanks for the feedback on the oxo spoke brush. I was wondering if it was long enough to reach back inside the wheels. From you comments I assume not. That was going to be my backup brush if the other didn't work out. My other option was to hunt down an Meg wheel spoke brush (which I don't think is possible).

I use a meg's Versa-Angle brush for the wheel face and think it works quite nice. The only knock I have on it, is the bristles get bunched up when wet. But so far I am happy. Its a much better brush then the other two brushes I used in the past.

Hmmm . . . I'd say it gets most of the way to the other side, but my issue is the width between spokes (see picture at beginning) doesn't let me maneuver much once the brush is all the way in, plus at that point the handle is flush against the face of the wheel plus I'm not sure I want to scrub with those stiff bristles on the end! Nevertheless, the brush itself works great for cleaning the spokes/in between the spokes, and since the spokes are so close together, I haven't had to use the "shape the brush to fit your spokes" feature.
