Cleanign chrome-ish plastic trim?

I'm not even sure what to call it so my searches have been, for the most part, fruitless.

I'm talking about the chrome plastic trim that goes around the windows. I was wondering what would be the best thing to clean it and shine it.

Here's the trim I'm talking about:

Um, you could be right. :nixweiss

So, just clean it with chrome cleaner? How about the the chrome on the bumper, that's plastic, right?

Do you have a magnet? Chrome with chrome polish, plastic 'chrome' with plastic polish. Both can take a wax or sealent when done.

most people use an all in one with light abrasives or chemical abrasives...on my f150 i do the front grill with duragloss 501

Dane Guy- Fellow Audi nut here :D

Noting that there's a (probably very remote) chance that Audi has changed that trim since the model-years I'm familiar with....

It's very fragile. And I mean *VERY* as in, it'll often/usually fail after a few years. Look at used Audis, it's always clouded up. And the finish on replacement pieces from Audi often fail within a few months (voice of experience, sad to say) so you can't just replace it (note that much of said trim is bonded on with adhesives and isn't really all that replaceable anyhow).

I can't get a straight answer from Audi about what the finish is, but I tend to go with "clear-anodized aluminum".

Treat it *VERY* gently. I wouldn't use anything harsher than KAIO...no ZAIO, no polishes made for paint. Don't try to get scratches/marring out. Don't try to increase its shine. Just keep it clean and protected and try to keep it from getting compromised. See how long you can keep it from failing.
