Cleaner Wax

What is it? When do you use it in the car care process? I know you should wash, clay, polish, and wax every 9-12 months and wax every 2-3

months in between, but when and what is the cleaner wax?

Cleaner wax is... a wax that cleans? :lol



Actually, when most people refer to a cleaner wax, they're talking about an All-In-One product. Something that polishes and leaves protection on the paint. The polish can be either a chemical one or an abrasive one depending on the formula.



Use it when you don't feel like doing a full claying or polishing of the paint or when the clay won't remove a below surface contaminant.



A lot of them have filling abilities too which make them decent glazes.
 
Never really had a use for cleaner wax. Usually when a product tries to be good at everything, its good at nothing
 
I have used cleaner wax most often as a quick way to remove water spots (remove, protect) noticed during a maintenance wash that do not come off with detailer or on plastic chrome (clean/protect).
 
If you are doing a full detailing, with polishing, once a year, and waxing once every 2-3 months, you might consider incorporating a good AIO cleaner wax into your regular waxing regimen. The cleaner wax will clean the paint surface of contaminants, stains, water spots, and leave a layer of protection. Top it with your preferred wax or sealant.



AIO cleaner waxes to consider: Klasse AIO, Duragloss 501, Meguiar's ColorX, Meguiar's M20 Polymer Sealant, Optimum Poli-Seal.
 
I like a number of AIOs, and I don't have any problem with cleaner-waxes as long as they're used for the right reasons. My primary gripes with them are that they stain trim (so I'd usually use a trim-friendly AIO instead) and that they don't last long (so top them with something durable)
