Cleaner/glaze or polish/glaze??

I've been doing some searching for a while now and I'm still confused.



When do you use a cleaner such as Medallion Premium Paint cleaner and when do you use a polish such as SMR??



Are there better options available locally or at CMA (it's local to me).



I was also planning on going over either one with a glaze such as IHG (which I already have). Good idea?



By the way I have a PC for application and I'm working on a silver car so only the worst scratches and blemishes are visible... usually.



Help me out here.

I think you got it.



Cleaner to clean and remove some oxidation.

SMR to remove very light swirls.

glaze to fill in and enhance shine.



The confusion come from the industries use of the terms. They use what ever term necessary to sell.
 
Anyone have some advice on best products for prepping the paint, available to me locally?? (Pepboys, NAPA, Discount Auto, CMA... yup they're right here in Tampa, FL... and I get 10% off for being a walk in... score!)
