Cleaned my Safari's wheels and carpet

I finally got around to cleaning the front carpet in my Safari. The previous owner had turned it into a nasty coffee stained mess. I took it and hung it on a fence. I then pressure washed the hell out of it. After that, I used Joy dishwashing liquid and diluted bleach to try to get the rest of the crap out. It think it is as clean as it is going to get.

My wheels were looking really bad and I wasn't aware of any good way to clean them, since they are chrome. I had tried scrubbing them with my bug sponge to no avail. I read here that you could use some fine steel wool to get them clean. I thought this would scratch the hell out of them and then I would need to take a polishing wheel to them. I was wrong. There may be some fine scratches, but nothing that is easily seen. It didn't take long to get each wheel cleaned up (maybe ten minutes). I am happy with the results considering the wheels had probably never been cleaned. The wheel in the pics is a rear wheel and was a little better than the front wheels.

Quality Leather- I know I'm always :nono about using steel wool on chrome, but it sure worked great for you, huh?!? What an improvement, nice and quick too.

You gonna reinstall the carpet or buy new? Don't get me wrong, it sure cleaned up, but I dunno...I think I'd see how cheaply I could get a replacement.

Those came out awesome, especially the wheels considering their prior condition. I will suggest dying the carpet with some RIT dye in a test spot and see whether your carpet rejects it after a day or not. My old Acura Integra kept the dye in, but a lot of cars don't keep it in. If the dye stays in after shampooing the spot after letting it sit for a day, I say dye the whole thing either gray or black. the gray might be a few different tones of gray at the end because of the stains, but black will just be black all around.

I guess my reply didn't post last time.

Accumulator,

Yes the wheels did come out well. I doubt I will need to use the steel wool in the near future.

To both,

I am happy with the results on the carpet. I am not going to spend the money on a new carpet, as I might be moving to a new car in the near future. I could spray the carpet pretty easily, but most of the stains are underneath the seats or mats. The biggest reason I did this was to get the smell out and in that I was successful. Heck, I am almost able to use the vehicle for dates.:)
