Claying with a polish

The other day I read something, and this thought crept into my mind. What if one was to use a polish as the clay lube? I had the thought the other day and now I can't remember what my thought process was for this. Would there be any benefit to this? If someone's paint was in pretty good condition with little to no swirls, could they use something along the lines of #7, and then go to a wax? Again, I don't know where this came from, but what do you guys think?

no. The clay lube needs to be watery. You could use water, but its just not slick enough. polish is waaaaaay too thick. that would be like using pudding as clay lube. :lol It would not be a good idea at all. Its not like you would achieve claying and polishing in one easy step. You might want to email Blinded and get his thoughts on that process. It sounds like something he might have already tried. :lmfao

I think the clay would become saturated with the polish and instead of claying you would in effect be sanding the paint with whatever abrasive is in the polish.
Might just as well mix up some polish with Bazooka Bubble Gum :)

I didn't think it would work, but figured I'd put it out there. I had no intention of trying it really. I figured how would you even apply the polish for something like that, it's too thick to spray, so you'd probably use way too much anyways. Oh well, no biggie.
