Claying removes paint??

Friend and I have a disagreement. Does claying your paint remove some of the paint? I say no he says yes. Also does claying remove BFWD?

Does clay remove paint? In the simplest terms - no. However, very aggressive clays, dirt or contamination in the clay, or a lack of lubrication can lead to scratches, and scratches - by definition - occur when material has been removed from a surface...

Does clay remove BFWD? Yes and no. More than likely, some of ANY sealant layer will be compromised - to some degree - by the action of a clay bar. How much depends on the aggressiveness of the clay bar, how dirty (abrasive) it is, the amount of lubrication used, the pressure it is applied with, etc..
