Claying Necassary?

New member
I have a new custom paint job.(black) I was told to let the paint cure for about 90 days. After that time im going to use the Zaino system.

The car hardly gets driven(sunday driver) and is garaged. I guess i'm a little scared to clay,I've been reading posts on here about smudgeing and hazing. If the paint feels clean and smooth is it necassary to clay?

If it's literally a new paint job that you had done, then no, you don't need to clay it since it's unlikely to have any debris in it.



But don't let any stories of hazing or smudges bother you for the future. Claying is an excellent procedure when the proper procedures and products are used! I have NEVER had anything but perfect results.

Thanks again guys!! I know you must get alot of repeat basic questions, But its nice to always get an informed response.

Now all i have to do is wait 60 more days!! I'm so anxious (spelling) to zaino the car!!
 
1987 Buick Grand National. My first black car. arghhhhh! Thank god its not my daily driver. I barely touch the thing and it leaves fine little scratches or swirls. I love to detail and love having a shiny finish, but i try not to touch the car if i don't have to. It drives me crazy, I'd like to go out to the garage and wipe it down every night whether it needs it or not. I enjoy doing that, but i'm learning with black to just leave it alone and wipe it down(QD). only when necassary. I like the califirornia duster just to remove the garage dust.
 
I wasn't too sure what i was going to use untill I started looking on here. I think I'm going to go with the Zaino system. 2-3 coats of Z-5 and finish with a coat of Z-2. I have some buffer swirls that you can see in certain light. I'm hoping that the Z-5 will do the trick for those.
