I was reading another thread on clay. I am curious to know how much clay you use at one time when claying

Usually only half of a bar. That way if i should happen to mistakenly drop it I only lose half the bar and not the whole thing. I have on occasion dropped a bar and then taken a razor blade and shaved the portion that hit the ground. However if the clay hits the ground and bounces or rolls I throw it away.

I have been using Mothers and Clay Magic (don't like at all) which are small so I just rip them in half. However, I have gotten OptiClay and probably PBs clay in the future and they are bigger bars so I will probably cut those into 1/4's.

Budman you can get the bigger CM bars @ 200 Grams. I had my CM bar for sometime . I would rather save on a QD and spend a Few extra $'s on a good size clay bar . i picked up the Megs claybar kit and their are 2 bars of clay but their paper thin.

Since I clay two times a year I use the whole bar for each session. Cut off a small piece for every panel of my truck. Throw the whole bar away when I am done. I save the remnants of the claying session to do the wheels of my truck twice a year

me, i like to split the clay into three. i use about 1/3 of clay when i clay my car. i use claymagic fine grade and i really like it.

The little OTC bars I use 1/4 of. The larger 200gram bars I typically use 1/8 or 1/12 of. Basically, I use a small piece I rip off, about the size of an 8mm sliced strawberry.

I cut my clay bar up into about six pieces usually (depending on the size of the bar). I'll use a piece for a few panels, and then switch when I feel that it is too "contaminated." Depending on the condition (and size) of the vehicle, I'll use anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the bar, or 2-3 pieces of my precut clay.

Do some clay bars really pull bether than others? I've been using Meg's white clay bar and I recently ordered clay from Pinnacle to try. They have some great deals.
