Clay storage?

I put my old clay in a ziplock bag in the past, but that didn't work out well, it melted to the side of the bag and was almost like a glue. I just bought a nice, big stick of it and I'd like to preserve this one. What do you guys use? All of my chemicals are stored outside in a shed that can get fairly hot
 
I have put clay in a zip lock in the past but I also spray into the bag some quick detail spray. I have since changed from Mothers clay to Meguiars since they sell you clay without having to buy it in a kit. Megs packages their clay in a container which I have also sprayed with a quick detail spray.

Interesting. Funny you mention that. I bought Wolfgang clay BOGO from the geek and it came in a real nice flat container. Easy to store away and to keep the clay lubricated while being stored.
 
Go to Wally world and get a soap container. Look in the travel section where they have the small sample size shampoos and such. Also in that section are 3 oz flip top bottles and 2 oz spritz bottles. Great for samples!
 
thanks, gonna go with the tupperware container route. One last question, should I spray QD spray where I'm storing the clay? Hearing some mixed reviews on this
 
you can find small empty plastic jars with screw on lids that are cheap...

I soak my clay in QD so it doesnt try out. I've used ONR QD and meg's QD (regular) to keep the clar moist.

I did that for years, but then I tried storing it dry and found that the QD/etc. wasn't necessary. My clay might even be holding up *better* with the dry storage! Who woulda thunk it, I figured the dry storage would lead to issues for sure.



Just the other weekend I used some old Griot's clay that'd been stored dry in the jar for quite a few years (over five); worked better than my Griot's clay used to work after brief storage in SpeedShine.



I've never had a single problem storing it dry (and this is over the course of a good decade or more now), and I often just keep a blob stuck to the rim of a wash bucket or the top of the lube sprayer.

i also store my clay dry as well, i just roll it up in a ball before putting it in the plastic jar...
