Clay Magic and Zaino

Anyone know if its ok to use the lube that comes in the clay magic box before doing the full Zaino treatment? I bought some clay magic at Autozone today since it was all they had and just to be on the safe side mixed up some Z-7 lube to play it safe but i can just imagine how many bottles of clay magic i'm going to end up having if i never use it now that i'm a Zaino guy. anyone with some insites?
 
I think the clay magic lube has some carnauba in it but I do not remember it has been awhile.....



Instead just use a little Zaino wash and some water in a spray bottle it will work and no worries either about the zaino bonding
 
You did the right thing by mixing up some Z7 as the lube. The Clay Magic Body Shine, which is what comes in the CM kit, is full of silicones. I wouldn't want to have the problem of having to remove every bit of that silicone first so that Zaino can properly bond. Save the CM lube for household touchups or whatever else, but I'd keep it away from a Zaino'ed car.

Man, i got only 2 coats of z-5 on my car right now and it looks awesome. i can't believe the no dust part of it when i'm buffing it off, plus my black trim isn't discolored.... i can't believe i used mothers crap for so long....:mad:

Is the Body Shine the same as Lubri-Shine? My local automotive paint shop carries CM products, but not as a kit. They carry CM Lubri-Shine, which they recommend as a lube for the clay; it's marked "Body Shop Safe" (i.e., no silicones). I've used it before Z before with no apparent problems.



That said, Z7 + water for lube works great with Clay Magic, and there's certainly no need to buy a separate lube if you have Z7 (or any quality car shampoo for non-Z'ers) on hand to mix your own.

The Lubri-Shine is a completely different product than the Body Shine that comes with the $10 CM kits. Lubri-Shine is part of the Body Magic line of products within the Auto Magic parent company. The Body Magic line is geared towards pros who need to use silicone free products in the body shop environment. That said, I would say it's safe to use Lubri-Shine with CM on a Zaino car, but not Body Shine.



Pretty much all of the Body Magic line is silicone free as far as I know...the same is not true about the CM and Auto Magic lines.

Gotcha . . .



BTW, for anyone wondering, the Lubri-Shine worked well enough, but certainly no better than a car shampoo-water lube. The $5 that the Lubri-Shine cost me would have been better spent on (yet another) MF towel.
