Clay lube

I am getting ready to clay my truck and am curious what would be good to use as clay lube?? I have a few different OTC QD's, and a couple different shampoo's: Gold Class, Sonus.

Also, I purchased Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay a while back, is this a decent clay to use before I PC with SSR -or is more for touch ups?

Any car wash soap. Just wash the car, then suds it up again and start claying. I'm taking a break right now, just got done doing that very thing.

ok! suds it will be! However, I read somewhere that Gold Class will break the clay down?

Also, The Ultra Fine Poly Clay- is this fine to use, it has been a long time since it has been clayed-or should I get a more aggressive clay?

Thanks

I have used Gold Class / water as a spray lube and it didn't seem to break down the clay. Might depend what brand of clay you are using? :nixweiss

If it were me and I hadn't clayed in a while I would use a medium grade instead of ultra-fine. Just my 2 cents.

I just found out that some QDetails have Carnuba wax in their ingrediants. Eagle One wipe and shine falls in this category. Will the Carnuba impede the claying and and application of some finishes as Klasse?

If you stay with the idea of using a 'wash' not a wax or quick detailing spray for the 'lube' you will do much better. I like to add in using distilled water so there are no spots.

I just contacted Pinnacle with my question about the Ultra Poly Clay. He advised me that the Ultra Poly Clay would work perfect for me to remove the contaminants before I PC w/ SSR, even though it has been a looonnnggg time since I have clayed my vehicle.

The customer service rep I spoke to was very informative, professional, and courteous.
