clay lasting unopened

How long can clay last if it is left unopened? Basically, I have a bunch of clay coming in, and I wont be able to use it all this year. If the bars are unopened (still in the wrapper), will they last until next year? Would putting them in a ziplock or something ensure they stay in good shape and dont deteriorate? Would it be better to open then and put them in a ziplock with QD?

Put them in a plastic bag and a cool dark place....I can't see how it could go bad or dry out
 
I'd keep them sealed in a cool dark place also. You should be good to go when you need them in the future.

The best thing you can do is purchase a temperature controlled cooling system, they are available at Costco for about $1400. Get a shrink wrap machine for $150--that includes the plastic shrink wrap.
Wrap the bar three times, put in at 14 degrees celsius, and avoid any moisture above 62%.
Or just throw it in a bag, put it in the back of your cupboard, and pray for industrial polution.

I would recomend 4 times just to be safe :D :D. I've had clay for a year or so and everything will be fine, as been stated before
 
I had a bar of the mothers clay bar used it a few times & stored it. I kept it in a can of the Fram oil filter container that the oil filter comes it. Has a plastic lid. Any how after not using it for a couple of months it started getting this mold type stuff on the clay itself. Not sure if the can caused this to happen or what. I didn't have the clay in a zip lock bag.

YIKES!!! I better change my storing method. I now keep my clay stored in my Pinnacle container. Should I make sure it dries before storing it? I like the pak shak container too.
 
Before I put it away, I spritz my bar with the lubricant, and then put it in one of those hard plastic lidded box (hard but thin - not like the ClayMagik boxes) containers that various things come in - I think the one in use now originally had a cheap MF bonnet in it from WalMart.

I've stored clay for 6 months this way - unopened, new bars should have a pretty robust shelf life....
