Clay Bar & Detail Spray Residue

After claying, should the leftover residue from the clay bar and detail spray be removed prior to polishing? Or should it be left on?



I read another website which says to leave it on, and than polish; but the tutorials here say to wash the vehicle after clay to remove residue before polishing.



I would imagine washing the vehicle after claying would remove any left over contaminants which could potentially damage the paint during polishing.

I would remove it if I were you. The residue is probably pretty dirty after all that clay barring. Usually I use my car shampoo as a lubricant and just spray it off with water after finishing with claying. Naturally I do it before the car dries. Washing definitely won't hurt.

i just do a final QD wipedown prior to polishing. you want as clean a surface as possible prior to polishing.
