circut city install no good

Hey everyone. I know this isn’t a topic about car detailing but maybe someone on here could help me out. I had Circuit city install a pioneer avic n3 stereo unit in my Pontiac trans am. The next day when I took it out of the garage I noticed a huge crack in my dashboard. I started to look around and noticed all kinds of fingerprints and smudges all over the windshield in that spot and dull spots on the cracked off piece of the dash. I went back and asked how that could have happened. At first they didn’t know how it could have happened but then when I pointed out that my windshield was completely immaculate except for the spot that they we were working by. So they are going to take care of that.. But yesterday I took my car out and I was driving it and I noticed my tach and my rpm tach started to go all wacko, then all the lights on the dash started going on and off, check engine, oil, airbag, everything. Then stopped at the light and the car just died but then since the key was on the radio and my lights and everything electrical worked. So I started the car and made the turn and it died again. So I tried to figure out what it was but I have no clue. The car starts and runs like crap for about 12 seconds then dies but all the electric stuff works but the dash stuff still goes crazy. If anyone knows what could have caused this. l am not sure if circuit city messed something up or if it could be something different or what. Any help or insight I would really be thankful. Thanks in advance.:nixweiss :help:

What type of cars is it?

Are there any other things installed?

And how long ago exactly did they install it?

My first guess is maybe they unplugged something they were not supposed (depending on the car) don't ever unplug the airbag harness.

Or maybe they did not terminate the wires correctly and the can be touching one another or grounding out.

Overall it can be a couple of things but if you never had these problems before then obviously they did something wrong.

NEVER EVER let hacks like circut city, best buy, ABC warehouse, or the like do any kind on installs. They are usually just kids making minumum wage being told they are installers. 99% of them are pure hacks that could give a rats batottie about your car and doing the job the right way. Most don't even know how to it the right way. Always go to a reputible installer that garuntees their workmanship 100%. I feel for you because it's a hard lesson to take that's easily avoidable. Hopefully they'll make right by you and fix their mess up.

wow that's a little harsh

in theory what you are saying sounds ok

but I have tewo issues with it

1.) circut city will garuntees their workmanship 100%

(I was in an accadent several years after an alarm install

and a wire was pinched they replaced/ undated it for free)

2.)at mt CC there are several people I would let and have let work on my car

I could just be lucky

to the OP

is you battery fully charged?

does your TA have an LT1?

(if it does the first think I would check is the opti-spark

Sorry didn't mean for it to come off so bad. Just trying to point out the same thing that happens here in the detail world of some boss man pulling a wash boy off the line sticking a rotary in his hand and calling him a professional detailer is pretty much the same thing that happens at those chain stores with installers. Most couldn't tell you proper battery load much less what the correct connector is. Forget about proper sound staging and speaker placement. I will admit far and few between you will actually find someone half way decent. But why take the risk when just down the road there's a professional installer audiophile that has made his life work your cars sound ambience. Just my $.02

thats true but jakerooni but where i live there isnt much other places around here for options. But to answer you big jim it is a LS1. thanks guys for ur help too
