i just bought a used car and it smells like it has been smoked in, i don't smoke so i can smell it very much. it is all leather interior other than the door panels and middle console, and of course i think the carpet is holding alot of odor. what can i use to make this smell good again?

shampooing with a good enzyme cleanerand extracting with a vac, followed by an odor neautralizer can really get the job done, without the need for expensive ozone machines.

Grabted some jobs require ozone machines.

My local detail supplier sells a Oder bomb its in a aerosol can that you release in the car, it fogs the whole inside of the car, then you clean and vac up from there and you are as good as new....I've used them in the past and they have worked very effectively. You can get them online threw autogeek or Dwayne's store

Here is a link to one other place that has them

I've fought this battle before on an in-law's vehicle. It had been smoked in by up to two people at a time for a period of @ 5 years. I did not have access to an ozone machine, but I would bet that would provide the quickest fix as suggested above.

What I did was CLEAN every "hard" surface with an APC diluted 10:1 and followed with PB's NL. Removed the carpeted mats and shampooed them and rinsed with the hose and left to air/sun dry. Vac'ed the carpets and spot cleaned where needed. Cleaned the glass with multiple passes of cleaner. After the interior was completed I sprayed the carpeted areas with Fabreeze and left a dryer sheet under the driver's seat and a bag of zeolite under the passenger's.

On warm sunny days we would move the vehicle outside and leave the windows down.

you need to use steam
i generally use resolve fabric and carpet cleaner spray it EVERYWHERE, headliner, carpet, seats, doors..........then hit with a steam cleaner, you will be set, this stuff goes on dry and is not soap its a very clean cleaner
after using resolve your car will smell brand new

The one main thing I find people don't know to clean or forget to clean to get rid of the smoke smell is the headliner.
