Chip Repair Causes Marring?

Greetings,



I've been trying to do small chip repair on a slate grey metalic paint job, and in the process of using the "blob remover" along with some very light polish, a new mark has been introducted. you can see a picture here



The top mark is the rock chip and the bottom is what I introduced. It seems the more I rub it, the worse it becomes. Have I gone through the clear coat? Pleaes help. Thanks for your time.

I can't quite see what's going on in the pic, but yeah, it's not unusual for stuff to happen during touchups. My one painter touched up a chip on the hood of my MPV and caused some marring that bugs me more than the chip did!



You might try putting a bit of clear over the damage. It might fill in whatever's wrong. But this stuff can be tricky...sorry I can't give a more definitive answer.
