Chemical Guys Microfiber towels

It's not on their website but I spoke to someone on the phone and ordered a gallon of their UltraMega Cold Fusion. Should be here in the next couple of days. :secret

Wow, you scored big time!! I wonder if it will come in its own crystal box with a certificate of authenticity or just a regular gallon with an invoice? Keep us updated and take pics when it comes in. :bigups

What is cold fusion? I have a lot of monster towels ..... I really like them.

I was kidding Setec because of his comment. Do you have any of the yellow ones or just the blue Monsters? Can you compare them to perhaps the green Viking, Uber No Name as these are ones I currently have. I have some Cobra Purple Jrs. but I don't care for them. I use them on door jambs only. Not impressed would be an understatement.

the viking microfibers are every bit as good as the chemical guys (or others for that matter) and i'm glad that i'm not the only one that wasn't all that impressed with their microfibers...

I like my Eurow Shag towels better than the CG MF that I received. The Eurows have a big nap though and aren't great for everything. I mainly use them for QDing. A fresh Eurow Shag is a nice touch as a gift to customers. Everybody that I've shown/given one too is always impressed with them anways.

The Sams Pro Force are good MF for cheap and you don't feel so bad about throwing them away when they are really soiled. I use them for drying with ONR washes and they don't marr for me. They have low nap too for wax/polish removal. I've found the bigger nap stuff doesn't work well removing polish residue and waxes. I'm just a noob so YMMV.

CG hype? I'll admit their website is terrible and the broken english is very unprofessional, but what product isn't hyped on the web? Autopia is pretty bad about hyping products too if you haven't noticed.

Yeah, all detailing products are hyped, it's just that most places that sell multiple products for the same application differentiate them by description, or price, or product line (as in Meg's consumer, Pro, Detailer).

These are great. Especially for the price.

MONSTER MICROFIBER JUMBO ABSORBER

Apparently, this 4 day only sale seems to be going on for months now.

Still, i can't find a better bargain. If anyone else does, post 'em!

Ironic that this is from the very first customer comment on these towels directly from their website......."The only flaw is in the description picture they look a lot more fluffy then they really are."

The one's mentioned by flashtime are my favorite microfiber towels. I only use CG's microfibers on the paint. I use the Sam's mf's on wheels, wells, and exhaust tips. The cobra microfibers are good, but they're not as good as CG microfiber towels from my experience with them.

Um..where is the irony?

You can add your review right under mine after you've had a chance to be disappoin... er, uh... have had the chance to try them.

They describe the towels as "MONSTER THICK MICROFIBER" and the first comment is not what I interpreted as MONSTER THICKNESS. :nixweiss

that's why everyone has to try (enter product here _________) for themselves and decide...

yep..always test for yourself and come to your own conclusion, because alot of stuff written by people on the net is poor and inaccurate.

It's more about hype/marketing. It's not unlike any other product being presented

to the public (burgers). And how are we any different when we present ourselves

to others? It's in our nature to "hype" stuff up.

Update: you won't be able to put your review of the CG Shaggy Fur-ball towels right under mine after all because they deleted my review from their site.

I posted this on another board I'm a member of and here it is copy/pasted:

I purchased a 6-pack of these and was disappointed by how insubstantial and flimsy they are. Even though they do have the longer nap, somehow they aren't overly absorbent.

Beyond a sub par drying performance (specifically: used for initial wipe with PB Spray & Wipe) they shed all over the paint and then again on the glass (even after 4 washer/dryer cycles with Pinnacle's MF Rejuvinator).

OK, so a very reasonably-priced MF ended being a let-down: no biggie, but here's the 'bigger picture' thing I mentioned earlier.

If you've ever noticed, at the bottom of any item's description page there's a list of brief reviews if any have been posted (by customers) or there's a link that invites you to write the first review if none appear yet. Notice my use of the term appear rather than using the phrase 'have been written'; it's because you can't assume that no reviews have been written just because you don't see any.

I know because I wrote the 'first' review on their Shaggy Fur-ball 6-pack page, and because I wrote how I felt the product performed, and gave an honest and respectful appraisal of this particular MF which was less than pure praise: it was removed from the page a week or 2 later.

IMO if you don't want anything but filtered, regulated, engineered product commentary on your products then don't include an invitation for customers to leave a review. To delete anything but the highest praise is disingenuous and renders the existing/remaining customers' review worthless.

FWIW I was a CG fan previously and have been happy with my purchases with the exception of those MFs. I'm not sure how motivated I feel now about future purchases with the knowledge that this is the way they do business. Maybe I'm old-fashioned but honesty in business means something to me.
