well i dont know where to post this but it is about machine polishing.

i have some serious swirls and im lookig for a good polish. i am looking at the

ALL-IN-1 POLISH + SHINE & SEALANT (16 oz) at chemical guys. any comments on this product?

quick question i dont think deserves a topic. is the Extreme Slick Synthetic -Acrylic Polymer Detailer (Anti-Static) (16 Oz) any good my car i black and i get pollen and dust on it instantly everytime i wash it it doesnt look like i washed it in 30 minutes.

I don't know about the polish you mentioned, but the qd is awesome. You will love it on black.

In general, if you have major swirls, it will take a lot more than just a one step all in one type product. I would look more into a multi stage polishing system. CG's polishes are great by the way, among others.

any recomendations?

and i have some mothers 3 step ive used it before and it looks great it just didnt last very long.

any cg polish u recomend they are all the same price pretty much.

and the swirls arent that bad ill probly need to apply the polish a couple times to get rid of them.

i triesd some crappy tropicare sealant polish and it didnt work very well.

If you have Mothers 3 step polish system, that would work fine until you need something more aggressive. You are still going to need a protectant of some kind to lock in the finish though, regardless of what polishes you choose.

If you want CG's polishes, I like their 3 step compounds:

Heavy Duty, Medium Duty, Light Duty Auto Detailing Polishing Compounds

Again, you will need to protect all this with some type of sealant or carnauba, or both.

Personally, I don't like the Extreme Synthetic QD, it streaks every time I use it. I would recommend the Speed Wipe or Spray Wax.

The AIO Polish is a great finishing polish. I use it all the time. If you need something more aggressive, you can use the Pro Polish. Another great product.

You say you have some serious swirls so CG's AIO is not going to correct that. I haven't found the product to have any kind of bite. It dusts quite a bit too for an all-in-one product. There are better AIOs if that's what you're looking for.

i am just looking for a quality polish preferably by cg. if i nned to go deeper i can try some compound on a rotary.

any suggestions.

(swirls arnt really bad at all. i just over exaggerate.)

The CG's polishes I linked to before are excellent polishes. Just to get us on an even keel, "compounds" are polishes. Most people use the term compound when they are referring to a polish with a medium to heavy level of abrasiveness or "cut". So, saying that, you should be able to tackle any job from minor to major with those three CG's polishes, just pick the level of abrasiveness you want to start with, and work your way down. In other words, if you start with the #2 polish, follow it with #1, etc.

If you're dealing with minor swirls, I think CG's Pro Polish should be fine. No need to go into heavy compounds. If you need something heavier, I've had good results with Diamond Cut 1500.

I think you answered your own question. It's not a polish, its a GLAZE. No cleaning properties, just filling. And yes, it works great in filling scratches and swirls.

im trying to decide wheter or not to go with the pro polish or the aio cause the aio has a higher cut. thought i dont really need any cut ill just use some light compound to work out the swirls.

Though you're not making much sense, I'll try and clarify things for you. Rule of thumb is to start with the least aggressive approach. In this case, start with AIO on LC green CCS pad, the less aggressive. If AIO doesn't remove your swirls, move to a more aggressive pad, ie: orange. If that doesn't work, move up to ProPolish on Green, then Pro Polish on Orange. You shouldn't need a compound to remove swirls.

according to cg the aio has more cut than the pro polish.

im just trying to find a good polish i have a 2 oranges and 2 blues so i have the pad recommended by cg.

im thinking i should just get the pro polish and remove the light marks from some 3m light compound.

ggk,

Sometimes the actual point can be lost in translation. Just to clarify, all compounds/polishes have some kind of cutting ability, or abrasiveness, so when you say that you don't want cut but you want compound, that can get confusing because you are talking about the same product. I just like to call everything polishes because that's essentially what they are, and everyone knows what you are talking about. What changes between them is the existence of abrasives, or not. Polishes with high levels of abrasives will have more cutting ability than ones with less, and polishes containing zero abrasives should just be called paint cleaners, imo.

While we are on the subject of "compounds", what 3M "light compound" are you referring to because 3M makes compounds (or polishes, if you will) that are extremely mild to extremely aggressive, and without trying it first or having someone put you in the right direction, you will never know which end of the spectrum it is.

That being said, you will be surprised at how hard it is to get rid of swirls. It actually takes a polish with some level of aggressiveness to it in order to be effective.

I just noticed that on the website. But I've tried both and found them very close. I actually find Pro Polish a little more aggressive. If CG is saying the AIO is more abrasive than the Pro Polish, I'd just get the AIO and use that. It should take care of your light marks as well with the orange pad. The blues aren't going to do you any good.

i pretty much gave up on the cg polish decision.

im going to try meg's #80 and #1 or #2.(prob #2)

then buy the quick detailer and silk dressing from cg
