Chemical Guy's Liquid Extreme Shine

Okay, let's say for arguement's sake that Steve does buy his formulas through Chemical Guys. The above quote says CG will help you blend your own UNIQUE product. While the unique product may share some basic similarities with CG's, it will also have some of it's own ingredients and application differences as well.

Exactly!!!

And that could be exactly why S&G is not listed on CG's site but sold by Poorboys. It may be a unique formula that was made to order. So it would be Poorboy's idea and CG's creation.

Those of you who are arguing over xyz vs. 123, understand the "community" issue... you're pushing your point of view as FACT and it has the appearance of bias.

Let's stop making a big deal out of the fact that this industry is small and a handful of chemical blenders make product for a lot of different brands.

David,

What is wrong with wanting absolute evidence? We would all be screwed if the legal system operated in the "if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..." fashion. I'm not taking a stand on any product as I honestly do not care what the source is or who uses what. If not legally wrong, it is morally wrong to state one thing is another based just on personal opinion.

I think your Sonus Carnauba Spritz is very similar to Pinnacle Crystal Mist. But why would anyone say one product IS the other without absolute proof? I have zero proof of Carnauba Spritz being even remotely similar to Crystal Mist other than the results being equivalent. Let's assume the base chemicals are identical (I imagine that is the case much of the time)...of course the results will be similar or indistinguishable but that does not mean the two products are identical and certainly does not warrant a statement on a public board being passed off as "fact." This has happened several times recently.

You have got to be kidding, right? Do you expect anyone to open their books to you? Do you expect the chemist to say, "yep... those are the same products..."? It isn't going to happen. Likewise, the owner of a brand is going to tell you what he wants you to believe. Product makers/marketers don't owe you or I anything in those regards.

I keep reading these threads and can't help but ask myself... what are people's motives? If people like a product they should buy it and use it. If they can get the same product (functionally or otherwise) with a different label at a better price... and that makes them happy... then that's fine, too.

I guess I'm boiling, not that you all are having these discussions, but how the discussions play out. It's ugly and not in the spirit of this community.

This thread is closed because it's off topic and no longer serves a purpose. If the PB and CG arguments continue, I will ban the discussion of the brands by autolocking threads containing PB and CG key words. Discuss each brand on its own merits or don't discuss it at all.

David,

Now that this thread has been moved here, I reopened it to discuss it.

I think the last statement you made should be placed in a public thread as a warning. The CG=PB debates need to stop.

SilverLexus (the instigator) has been placed on a 30 day timeout, is there anything else you would like to see done?

 I got the Synthetic A while ago when I first saw it,. truth be told I think I am the reason it was on back order, I got a few for my neighbor and some local shops, 21 gallons total, they were nice and threw in some Heavy duty Sprayers… Nice Guys. Awesome product! Used it mainly on our Motorcycle Details, but more and more of our guys love for everything because NO STREAKING at all. Personally the Pro-Detailer is my favorite but I am still a little un-decided. ALL I can say is All of the CG Quick detail products are awesome.. :dance I just ordered my XXX HARD CORE PASTE WAX

Wed. Hope to get it in and I will tell you guys what I think. I am not a huge paste fan I though the price was too good to pass up and i like the name....lol

has anyone considered the possibility that CG and Poorboys buy from the same manufacturer? I personally haven't bought from Poorboy but in a post here he stated that he doesn't buy from CG-if you think he's lying don't buy his product.

I just want to say my hat is off to you!! I love reading your posts and I think you add a lot of good stuff to this forum. :up I am not sure who makes what all I can say is Chemical Guys manufacture first rate professional chemicals, I have spoken with the guys a few times and they are very cool and always helpful.

Poorboys is cool also no need to ask who makes what? It doesn't matter, buy chemicals from the companies that make you happy and makes you money. Poorboys offers great stuff in small amounts this way professionals and amateurs can get a little product or a lot and everyone is happy.

:buffing: LETS ALL BUY STUFF FROM THE COMPANIES WE LIKE AND NOT COMPARE WHO MAKES WHAT. I think as pro's we have decided who the quality companies are, manufacturers or not it shouldn't matter.

I've used CGLES on the soft top of my Toyota MR2 Spyder, and I couldn't be happier with the way it finishes. The top is a canvas/vinyl mix, three years old, and it looks brand new! I've also used it to restore the finish in a hard plastic pickup truck bed liner. Looks great, but hooboy is it slick! Had to get the dog a rubbermaid mat to stand on! I like CGLES on tires, but must admit that it slings a bit. Less than some products though. I'm one of the ones that likes my tires very shiny, and CGLES fits the bill quite well. At $26.00 a gallon plus shipping I think it's a pretty good deal, and if I ever use up the whole gallon I'll more than likely get another. :xyxthumbs

Cost: 26.00/gallon

Manufacturers claims: * our Brightest, Wettest Looking Shiniest Dressing

* perfect for rejuvenating plastic moldings and parts.

* protects and beautifies, putting a virtual barrier from the sun and water

* excellent for maintaining that showroom luster

* non-Greasy, Will not attract dust extreme shine formula

* one application last weeks not days

* multi-purpose, solvent base dressing

* high viscosity silicones produce a rich, long lasting, high gloss shine on rubber, plastic and vinyl surfaces.

* clear color

Review: This stuff is really first rate. It is an excellent restorer for vinyl, plastic, etc. I just got it recently, so I have not been able to evaluate how long the shine will last. However, I'd put my money on atleast a month or so. If this won't cut it, you'll need to dye the trim.

Anybody have an MSDS on this product? From past discussions on here, I thought most everyone was afraid to use Solvent/Silicone based tire dressings for fear of deterioration of the runbber (I have no fear of that as my tires never last long enough to worry about it). I've formulated solvent/silicone based dressings for a Car Brite distributor for several years now and have some samples left over to make me several gallons. By the way, the raw material costs are a little over $3.00/gallon. That's some markup. :LOLOL

I wouldn't use it on my tires either, but not all silicone based dressing are "SOMETHING TO BE AFRAID ABOUT." :o

The following link contains a good discussion on the myths and truths of "good" vs. "bad" silicones

I used a very *similar* product on my tires, and it looked great, and lasted me a week until i dressed them again.

No browning.

 I get a week out of ArmorAll or any of the other white water-based dressings (unless it rains), with no browning; I would hope the solvent based dressings would last longer than that.
