If you use chemical guys citrus wash & gloss as directed for a car soap will it strip wax? I am wanting to try it but I do not want it to strip the wax.

How would I use it if I WANTED to strip wax? I have been very interested in CG W&G but been afraid to try it. I heard it can be caustic if misused.

per website...

As a paintwork cleanser dilute - 1oz with 1 gallon water for superior surface cleaner to remove built up grime and leftover wax.

It works, but so does Dawn.

I use it as my regular wash when I do a traditional wash. I have not noticed any wax stripping effect. I had thought my Collinite 845 was wearing off one part of my hood prematurely, but I was wrong. It's beading fine now and seems to be just the same as the rest of the car. Anyway, I use one capful of CWG in 3 gallons of water and that is plenty. I usually have to add more water before I finish and there's still plenty of suds and soap left. So, a little bottle lasts forever for me.

I also used it as directed for wax stripping for my spring detail and it worked great. Water sheeted off that car like nobody's business. :)

You can't beat CG CW&G, just used it on my detail of my daily driver this past weekend (not my first time using it). For a two bucket method wash, it can't be beat.:spot

As usual, the copy on the Chemical Guys website makes no sense. Up at the top it says this dilutes 1 to 4000. Then they say 1 cap per 5 gallons of water. Then later they state: "dilutes 5ml products (1 cap full) with 3 785.41178 ml ( 5 gallons water)". First of all, does that mean, I need something that will measure milliliters to 5 decimals of precision? Second, by my math, 5 ml to 3785 ml is a bit closer to a dilution ratio of 1 to 757, not 1 to 4000...oh wait, I see, it dilutes at 1 CAP to (almost) 4000 ml! The only problem with all this is that 3 785.41178 ml is just ONE gallon of water, not 5.

So is it 1:4000, 1:757, or 1:3785? I'm going to guess that it's 1:757, which is about a sixth of an ounce per gallon (one cap per gallon), which would make this a very economical soap, once you cut through all the usual CG errors and hyperbole. Or is it really 1 cap in 5 gallons?

There are many ratios to mix anything depending on a lot of factors. I have some CG CW&G that I'm going to use to strip wax when I wash.
