cheaper version of souveran

Max wax is similar to souveran. It applies/removes the same, smells similar, but for some reason, I think I can see a difference on black. MAYBE I can, or maybe I just like to tell myself that because I paid so much more for the souveran (but I really think that I can). :D

Max Wax strikes me as being VERY similar to the old Pinnacle Paste Glaz. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they're the same thing.

What are the legal issues with 'price fixing'

I hear ya, problem is define price fixing. I see many manufactures doing more and more of that.

I like CG5050 way over Nattys for a few reasons. So is Souveran worth $79.99, depends on wht the person who buys it thinks. For me, nope.

P21S has been ranked above them all in a couple of published reviews. Price is fairly competitive as well.

P21s is good, but I doesn't have the same wetness as Souveran on my car. However, it is a very good wax for the price and delivers 98% of the look at half the price. I only get about 3 weeks per coat, whereas Souveran was giving me 4-5. I have some Max Wax coming tomorrow, so I can comment on that in a day or two.

There is no price fixing. Soveran was offered for 69.99 MSRP at all retailers prior to sale for the last ten years. Max from PBMA owner of Pinnacle recently warned that it needed to increase price for first time since introduction due to processing costs, shipping costs, and economic conditions. It is funny we only remember the one time we bought something and got it on sale or with a discount. Two years ago Autogeek offered Soveran as a 2for1 deal for Xmas as the deal of the lifetime. The new offer ending tonight is pretty sweet at 2for95.00 or around 47.50 each. Using the discount codes found on several forums like detailcity-bmwforum-corvetteforum offer an additional 10% off. OUCH , no thats a deal for a beauty wax and beats 5050 in price and looks.

Increasing the MSRP and price to the resellers is one thing...cutting them off for selling less than MSRP is price fixing..in some form (if this is indeed true)

In the end, the market decides if it's worth $80. Marketing trickery only works for so long

you can get an extra 10% off the souveran with the code detailcity?

I did and also saved it on the new Soveran Spray Wax, think Crystal Mist on Riods. And as asked on the former post, PBMA does not private label. Pinnacle is theirs and theirs only. Originally owned by Terry of CMA also, but bought out over a year ago. Searching here and at detailcity along with the other forums can really help understand the truth from a couple of guys stories who usually endorse a competitors product. It also appears Autogeek offers a no hassle return policy, havent noticed that at those other sites :bolt

But in my experience P21s gives a very different look compared to Souveran. Some might like it better ("brighter and shinier") but *I* preferred Souveran on the car in question, and by a wide margin. Ditto for Trade Secret, which sorta surprised me after having discussed it with Irene at TOL. But then I'm very used to seeing Souveran on that particular car.

Tom P. - Heh heh, [insert my usual caveat about Blitz staining trim here]...Souveran is trim-friendly. No, you know I'm not knocking Blitz, just pointing out why it might not be a direct Souveran alternative ;)

cant use it with this souveran deal, i tried

yes you can , as I did it. I put it in the comments box at checkout and Meghan repaired it the next morning manually. She did tell me the sale has been held over for an extra day to allow you and others to get the discount as wanted. :woot:

I spoke with Meghan about this also, seems that only one retailer had an issue. They were buying it from the former owner on the cheap trying to get rid of there overstock. This retailer was not happy when told that prices increased and additional orders would go up considerably. No forced pricing was ever mandated or suggested but if the retailers price went up then there selling price should also or else close the doors, correct .

I just tried it and it did not work, and the 14 dollars for shipping is insane!

Shipping prices are usually based upon total price of order, nothing new from other vendors. But an astute shopper might visit a certain PBMA site named after the wax itself, and find the same offer, same discount, and free shipping. :chuckle:
