Just a quick question:

I have a Black&Decker high speed rotary that is about 12 years old. I use it mainly for detailing aluminum boats. I dont have the use, need or money for buying a $200 rotary. Well, my old B&D's bering must be gone.

I have been looking and cant find a new B&D ANYWHERE on the net.

Cany anyone tell me where I can get a pretty decent high speed rotary for about $30-50 MAX. Remember, this is for boats and not clearcoated cars (I use my PC on my cars).

Thanks guys...

B&D make the DeWalt D849 (B&D bought DeWalt and made it their premium line.)

Well $30-$50 max? Check around on ebay or harborfreight.com for Chicago tools.

Look at the WEN budget rotarys, they are a quality tool for light duty work. I wouldn't recommend one for daily use (it's only ~4 amps), but it has a standard size arbor and variable-speed locking trigger, and comes with a velcro backing plate. I have one as a backup to a DeWalt, and it cost me less than $60. It's 4 years old now, and I have used it quite a bit for spot work. Noisier and not as smooth as a DeWalt etc. but, for the price, it is decently weighted and pretty good for the novice. 2 thumbs up. :)

You won't get much of a rotary for only $30-$50. Try eBay for a nice used DeWalt or Makita Unit, even used it's going to be more than $50.

I have the Chicago Electric/Harborfreight VS Rotary as a backup...

With a good backing plate, and the right pads, it does a fine job... might be right for your application... I found it on sale at HF for $24.99. Currently 49.99. Why not?

My Fein, on the other hand, is just that; fine.

I got my Makita off E-Bay for 125 but i seen used ones for 85-100 but you wont get anything good for 30-50 bucks
