CHEAP Foam gun that WORKS!!!

Did you find any effect on the spot free nature when not using their soap? (they claim this will affect it).

As a matter of fact, it was better. That's why I didn't like their soap. It wasn't as spotless as I expected. I went through a few different brands before I found one that worked really well. Here's a picture of my Stealth after washing it with my current soap and the Mr. Clean spot free.

I've actually just got my foam gun after owning one of these, and let me tell you that a real foam gun is a very good investment. 40 bucks on amazon and worth every penny. Don't get me wrong, the one you have is much better than nothing at all, but for sure not a foam gun.

So, I just don't see the point of a foam gun beyond convenience. Does using it as a pre-soak help lift dirt off the car. I would still use a bucket of wash with warm water on top. I would never use this as a replacement for a bucket with wash in it.

Care to mention what soap it is that you use? And do you dilute it before adding it to the gun?

That looks really good btw.

I thought that at first as well. I was willing to just use it as a presoak. But after using just the foam gun, a washmit, and a bucket of rinse water, ill never go back. I first soak a panel, give it a minute, then wash with the mitt while spraying foam in front of it and it does a much better job than the two bucket method. My hood is a repaint and is incredibly soft. Absolutely no marring.

Granted the drawback of this method is you use quite a bit more soap. But a easy trade off for me.

Thanks.

I use Meguiars Deep Crystal. I have yet to try adding to the gun. I've always just used the bucket. However, I think the next wash I'm going to use it in the gun since it will do a better job of loosening the dirt. I wouldn't dilute it either as the gun mixes it with water for you.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'll give that a try on the next wash.

I've been tempted to also try the Mr. Clean system but I've heard bad opinions of the film it leaves behind when it dries. I will buy one and see what I think.

You can avoid that by using a better soap. That's another reason I didn't like the soap that came with it.

honestly, i would just pay the $45+ dollars for a gilmour foam gun. since the day i bought mine, i haven't regretted it one bit...

one thing is you can buy the part that makes the foam for less than 10 dollars. and it appears to just connect on where the little black nozzel is. i was going to buy the 2 halves and put it together then i picked up a pw.

More Foam=More Lube; More Lube=Less Marring. The dwell time decreases potential marring while washing. I don't make a penny if you buy one and I still think its worth the money. Also, all you need is a rinse bucket. You don't need to fill abucket with soap anymore.

Ah, I see. I'll give that a try on the next wash.

I dunno..I wouldn't go *that* far  Not that I'm all :nono if that works for you.

With a BHB I can sometimes skip both the shampoo *and* the rinse buckets (yeah, the foamgun rinses the bristles clean, at least with my boosted water pressure), but when using a mitt I still like to fill it with shampoo solution so it's utterly saturated, then I use the foamgun to provide the flushing/lube at the point where the mitt contacts the paint. And I still like to submerge the mitt in the rinse bucket and really *agitate* it to make sure I get any abrasive [stuff] out of it. The mitts just aren't quite as foamgun-friendly as the BHBs IME/IMO but the BHBs can be *too* gentle in many/most cases (at least if used properly).

There are a *lot* of ways to use the foamgun, and you just gotta play around with it until you find what works for you.

^^ageed, I don't use it that way every single time. And my media choice is a GS. I use the GG rinse bucket to agitate and flush between panels. And honestly I do still make up a soap bucket, but it's for the wheels and wells. The GS isn't so good for bugs, is the BHB better for that application?
