First, I apologize for no pics, but of course, it started raining as I was finishing with the car, and the light in my garage just isn't good enough to do it justice.

Anyway, thanks to all the advice, I used the 3M HG, Dawn washed, and then three layers of BF. Had a little trouble with the first layer. Being a long-time carnuba guy, it took some adjustment on my part to get the quantity right. Used too much the first time. Second and third layers went on and came off as advertised. No hard buffing, no streaking.

As to the results, all I can say is WOW! I am very impressed with the depth of shine on the red paint. Didn't get the "hard shiny" look I used to get when I used a polymer sealent. It really was comparable to (or better than) the look I get from Zymol carnuba paste.

We'll see how it holds up, and hopefully I can post pics after another wash this weekend. (It's raining AGAIN today). I am going to break down and order the BF polish and QD now that I'm sold on the sealant.

Thanks again for all the advice. This place lives up to it's tagline as the "friendliest forum" on the net.:D

The BF polish definately enhances the shine, and the sealent just furthere deepens and brightens it. I think you love it. Yes, I too applied the BF to thick and it was a little stuborn comming off, but when you apply it thin, its a breeze. Curious why you applied 3M Hand Glaze then Dawned....HG is just oils no abrasives, so you would be appying oil filllers then washing them off.

I was worried about the BF not "sticking" to any oily residue left by the HG. Based on your comments, sounds like using the HG was a waste of effort.:(

So much to learn.... so much RAIN!;)

I didnt want to coe out and say that but yes, unfortunately, it was mostly a waste of effort:( , but it was time spent workin on the car so its not that much of a waste:) HG is just oils, and your right, it would interfere with the BF bonding.

Glad you were pleased with the results Southernboy. The Blackfire system seems like a GREAT investment. I don't know when I'll come around to buying the duo, but I'm just dying to use it. Laters
