You people who directly make a difference in the lives of individuals have my deepest respect and gratitude.
Glad to see people really looking into what happens when they donate to [various charities]. If you want to do your bit through some organization, it pays to do your Due Diligence first.
One of the things I find, uhm...complicated...is the notion of Excessive Executive Compensation. As with many (private, for-profit) enterprises, so often you just can`t *get* good people to work for "a reasonable wage". It seems there aren`t all that many highly competent people willing to do C-Level jobs for low pay. Sure, those top-heavy charities bug me too, but try filling those slots for reasonable pay. Not saying it can`t/shouldn`t be done, just that it`s complicated.
When [a family member facing her imminent demise] was deciding what to do with her money, she visited the charities she was considering in person, really made an end-of-life project out of it despite the physical hardship. It not only helped ensure that she was really gonna do some good, but also proved a *VERY* fulfilling endeavor, she really enjoyed the process even though a few of the charities that got scratched off her list were disappointing. She ended up wishing she`d done it sooner, while she was healthy.
