With all the endless discussions about PC counterweights, I have to suggest that EVERYONE with a PC using ANY backing plate and 6" pads or larger, invest $1.99 and go get the 6" counterweight!!!!
It makes a world of difference in speeds over "4". There are now zero vibrations. If you disagree, you're only out $2.
You can get them locally at any authorized Porter Cable service center, (they may have to order it- it will take 1 week), so no need to order online.
It is the best investment I've made since the PC itself. I worry a little now about the damage I may have done to the bearings by using the old counterweight at high speeds. :-(
