I noticed not may people on here use chamois' to dry their cars. Why is that? I thought chamois' were pretty safe. Should I not be using one? Does it marr paint?

Thanks for any input.

Hey Conglomeration if you'll allow me to piggyback on your post, is there anyone, other than me, using the PVA drying towels like the Aquadry or Water Sprite? I never hear them mentioned and I love em. I have a water sprite that's now finally ready to "give up the ghost" after about a years worth service.

The Absorber appears to be very popular. (I also think that “absorber has sort of become a catch-all term for anybody’s PVA drying sheet.)

I find smooth surfaced PVA sheets too clingy for my tastes. I do have a couple waffle patterned PVA sheets that I like much better. Still, I prefer ww mf.

I think the answer to your question lies in TheFiveO’s question. The synthetic “chamois available today are much easier to use than natural animal hide chamois. They don’t have the drawbacks (hard to wash, drying like cardboard, smelling like a dead animal if left wet) and I think they work much better.

PC.

The biggest things is that PVA and chamois don't have nap to help avoid marring from any stray dust or junk on the paint when you're wiping it dry.

I've been using the "ABSORBER" brand synth chamois for the past 15 years and have not looked back. Best part is that in those 15 years I have only used 2 "ABSORBERS", they last for years if kept in their tube and ran through the wash every now and then. It's great on the tint side of tinted windows since it does not scratch and you don't need any chemicals - just a damp Absorber and it will wipe all that dirt away.

I've used numerous natural chamois, the Absorber, the Water Sprite, the Water Bandit, and two different generations of Griot's synthetic chamois. All of these left a little (admittedly, sometimes *very* little) water on the panels whereas my WWMFs don't leave *any at all*. And properly washing a natural chamois is a PIA that requires the right stuff.
