Oh my god, do I hate cats. My grandmother has these three crazy outdoor cats, and us with no garage..... needless to say, claw prints are a BUGGER. I've got a car cover, however when I come home and it's raining I obviously can't put the car cover on. Wake up in the morning - and the clawprints are back. They can be a real headache to get out too.

I HATE CATS......

Watch the language please.

LOL

Well even with a Zaino'd car the damn things don't slide.... probably a good thing, I can just pictures their claws flailing all over hte place, grabbing chunks of paint as they slide of the hood. *shiver*

nasty...just get an alarm, maybe something with proximity sensors to warn the cats to back off before you come out and whoop them a new one lol

I think I once heard of some chemical that was an animal repellent of some kind. I can't remember where I saw this though.... maybe try a hardware store? :nixweiss

I hate the stray cats we have in this neighborhood. They seem to delight in taking a longitudinal stroll over our cars. Heaven help them if I have the garden hose in hand next time I see them....

Anyone know how to get rid of cat claw marks? a cat decided to open up its claws on my car and there are tons of them on the hood.

There is a cat around our house that loves to sit on the hood of the car closest to the house. My wife usually parks closest. ;) That dumb thing has been hosed down several times, and keeps coming back for more. It has to be the embodiment of all the bad things I have done coming back to haunt me. Anywho, they never learn, and will probably come back just to spite you. I think I am going to set up a mister system around my car so at night, it will be too wet for the stupid thing to get on there. Of course that would mean washing my car every morning.....I could live with that. That, or I could sit by my car at night with the 'ol Sears shotgun.......

Never wax your car....Cats hate slippery surfaces !

And why is it, that cats will find your car after its freshly waxed ? What is it about it they like ???

I have the same problem, no ones alone on this one unless you have a garage....But for us condo/apartment dwellers, its a never winning battle !

One thing that worked for my brother is to sprinkle cayenne pepper powder all around the perimeter of the car. No harm to anyone. The cats step on the pepper to jump on the car, and when they jump off. When they lick lick their feet to clean off the pepper....yowza. They won't do it again after a couple of times. Saves you frustration and saves the cat from your wrath.

You can actually buy a cat repellant. It comes in a grandular form that you sprinkle around the area that you do not want the cats. The problem is, the stuff is water soluable; if it rains, it is useless. It does work but is very weather sensitive.

The other idea is to track down the cat's owner.....!!!:angry

About once every six months, this topic crops up, and it always devolves into suggestions for animal cruelty. As I've already deleted one post for the suggestion of anti-freeze as a solution , I think this thread is best locked before it goes further downhill. There are posts in the archives with suggestions on how to keep cats away from your vehicles, please search for further suggestions.

Thanks,

Tort
