Castrol winshield treatment > Rain-X

Crap, I didn't even think to check shipping, and there's where a lot of sellers skim profit. Here's to hoping the price stays low, then . . . :up

Tort

Shipping was $3.85 + 50 cents per item. Still quite reasonable. As for shelf life--people have still been using the Castrol version with the Gigantor applicator long after the product was discontinued.

Great find.

I placed a bid for 24 of them....shipping is $15! I think that's a bit much. The Aquapel piece is small and light...it's not a big bottle of product.

Sho' 'nuff, but if we end up getting them for $.99 or even $2, it's still a good deal. Homie has to make a little money somewhere.

What are peoples' thoughts on preparation? I was going to do a light PC polishing followed by an IA wipe down.

Also, how long does the product really last? How can you tell it's been depleted?

Thx.

(BTW, i paid $20 for 3 tubes which incl. shipping from a guy on eBay...delivery was very fast. I was reluctant to commit to a case of 24.)

This Castrol stuff is like spraying water on the windshield. I mean, it does absolutely nothing when I have used it.

Eagle1 20/20 creates beading and it cleans. :)

I had the same experience with accuvision, I tried applying when cold, when warm, after cleaning the windshield, etc... I couldn't get the product to bead water. I thought it might be a dud bottle, so I bought another one. This time, the first application seemed to bead water pretty well. However, about a month later when I tried to apply it again, it didn't do anything. Either the stuff goes bad really easily, or I don't have any other clue what could be wrong.

Anyone else have problems with accuvision seeming to not do anything?

sorry to bring up this old thread but I was at walmart the other day and saw a product called "super clean accuvision glass cleaner", and it reminded me of the old accuvision product. I certainly hope it works better than the old one which did nothing for me. But now it's got competition from rain-x glass cleaner and invisible glass with rain repellent.

now thats a bump.

Amazon and eBay for Aquapel! i have yet to check Costco for it. but Rain-X will always have place on my shelf (=

I guess I shouldn't have bumped this thread and should have started a new one. The new stuff I saw was actually accuvision window CLEANER with repellent properties in it. So aquapel and rain-x aren't what it would compete with.

On a side note, I have been having lots of troubles starting certain threads and have no idea why. And I'll have tried 10 times through the week and still cannot start one on a particular topic but I can start other ones just fine. Does anyone know if there is some sort of keyword or something in the post that prevents a new thread from being started?
