Castrol Start-Up Oil???

Castrol says that this new oil "Contains polarized molecules that cling to your engine's metal surfaces to provide advanced anti wear protection. "



It sounds suspiciously similar to Royal Purple's claim. Being a Mobil 1 user, I hate Castrol(ever since their stupid Syntec lawsuit thing:mad: ). Does anyone else think this is a gimmick??

Basically the lawsuit involved the use of the word "synthetic" to discribe their oil. Castrol was using Group III based oil (highly refined dino oil) and sold it under the name SynTec Full Synthetic. Mobil One sued claiming that this was false advertising because the Castrol oil was not a synthetic in the sense that Mobil One was (Group IV and V). Yeah, Brian's got it. CASTROL Syntec is not a true synthetic oil but a hyper-processed dino oil that yields a molecule not found in nature so the FTC says it's OK to call it "synthetic".



The number of actual synthetic PAO oils (Group IV/V) is shrinking. The number of wannabe "synthetics" is expanding. People were pissed because the wannabe oils should be priced far less, not $5/qt.

Speaking of that...does anyone have reliable current information on who is still selling a full synthetic in the Group IV/V classification?
