Carpet shampooing

Now before you all start yelling search, believe me... I have looked but there haven't really been any GOOD threads that have said everything.

Basically, I want to shampoo all the carpet in my car. The carpet on the door panels, the mats, the floor, the seats, and the headliner. What do I need to do this and what is the process? I have 303 carpet cleaner, but I am not sure how to use this... mix with water, or what?

My local wal-mart has prestone carpet cleaner in the automotive section, but I'm not sure if this is the foaming stuff that everyone talks about or not. It is in a red can with the brush attached on the end. Is this what I need? Thanks for any help.

If your going to wet-clean, you really need some kind of extractor to pull the solution back out. I would not consider any store bought aerosol product as a shampoo. Rather, they are more like spot cleaners or surface cleaners. True extractors are expensive, but something like a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine, shop-vac, or Oreck carpet cleaner are more affordable.

Do NOT saturate the headliner or you may dissolve the adhesive holding it up. Run a search on cleaning the headliner for more information. You can also buy the ebook for sale on this site for excellent advice.

Well, I do have a shop vac (12 gallon 5 hp) from lowes... Does this help any? I really don't want to buy a completely new bissel machine for just this... any ideas?

Thanks

Be cautious and don't over saturate the carpet. You want it damp, not wet.

Did you try running a search yet? Plenty of good stuff out there to read.
