I'm in the market for a carpet extracter what is a good brand and price Im doing mobile detail so need something easy to get in and out my van. I've used the mytee before just wanted to know whats comparible or maybe better for the money

We use the Mytee HP60 and love it. It is a bit large for mobile app, but has great lift and pump. I've read that the new duramaid unit now that it has been redesigned is a pretty good unit, especially since it is more compact and about $500 less than the HP60.

I went out nasty and bought a Mytee 1007 speedster 5-6 years ago. It is an awesome machine.

I am mobile and this machine is BIG! I would love to try the Mytee lite hot water extractor and see how compares.

Mobile Detailers struggle with the power required for really good extractors. Most pro rigs require TWO 20 amp circuits. And most driveways can't supply that.

Notice I said 'really good'. This is Autopia. We constantly strive for the best. Not the best we can 'get by with'. The best.

If someone posts in the 'Pro Forum', we sorta hope that they are not using the Little Green Machine...

Here's something to think about: The water that you extract is just as dirty as the water you leave in the carpet.

Good Luck!

Thanks everybody for your advice and help I would keep looking to see what will be the best for my rig set-up. Jimmy Buffit I just want to get straight what you are saying. This is what I got from what you said don't purchace lesser equiptment to save money. If I'm wrong please explain more. Also wetwerks who makes the duramaid unit or is that the actual name of the company.

I have a Mytee HP 60 myself, and absolutely love it. I also have a Mytee Tempo and I am also satisfied with this model, but you need a hot water source. I also have a heated Durrmaid, and although its a pretty decent machine I would choose a Mytee over it any day.

I've used big 2 circuit mytee speedsters, and to tell you the truth, with their two cords, big electricity appetite, and triple vac motors, I don't even notice a difference between them and my Durrmaid:nixweiss

Sorry for the delay in getting back. It is actually called Durrmaid. Check out Durrmaid, Inc., - Carpet extration system in Mead, Washington - Home for more info.

I have a Mytee Lite, and it works very well actually. Its noit much bigger than a good sized shop-vac, and gets most of what I need to get out out.

gets most of what I need to get out out

I've started several flame wars in the past on this issue...

Is that what you want? Is that why you consider yourself Autopian?

To be 'good enough'?

Here's a challenge: find a pretty dirty carpet (not the worst you've ever seen), clean it to your satisfaction. Extract thoroughly. WAIT ONE HOUR.

Then spray it lightly with your APC, brush/agitate well, BLOT for 30 seconds with a clean white towel.

Contemplate the towel.

Contemplate your process.

As I said earlier, the water you leave behind is just as dirty as the water you extract.

Think about that.

Do you really want to be 'good enough'?

Good Luck.

Sensei is definitely a good option. It will work with two 15 amp circuits, no problem. If you plug both plugs on the same circuit, it may trip the breaker. There is a smaller mini-extractor from the same company as the Sensei. It works very well, however, does not have a heater, and the tanks are a bit small.

Thanks guys this forum has come back to life today and this is one of the last major pieces to my puzzle that I need to buy to get started and can't decide.

Cleaning Fool thanks for showing me another choice which I haven't seen I like that unit from what I see have to do more research

Jimmy Buffit I respect everybodys opinion on this site and what you have said makes sence that you don't want to be just good enough but you haven't put any imput on what machine you have or will recommend.

This is the generator I purchased and now found that a few people up here have the same unit when you speak of needing at least two 15 amp circuits will this due?

please don't bash on me for bringing my own thread back from the dead a year later. I been doing so many things and now trying to finish up the set-up for my mobile rig and I decided on the mytee lite II 8070. can anybody give me pro's and con's if they use this unit. Also what might be the best place to purchase I seen the model on ebay for a reasonable price.

Also will my generator be able to power this unit?

Well, at least you're not one to rush into decision making!

The Mytee will be fine if you'll be doing 3 cars per week, but if you'll be doing 3 cars per day, you'll want a bigger, more durable machine.

I tend to not use brand names, etc. because I don't want to seem to be promoting particular items... Having said that, in five years, we've gone through TWO Sensei extractors - replaced everything at least twice. (Oh they clean pretty well...) Out of frustration we solicited the advice of local carpet cleaning distributor. These guys sell $60,000 truck mounted extractors, among other things. They convinced me (after a week-long, in shop trial) to purchase the same unit they use in their rental/loaner pool. Made by Northland Products, the Nexus NP is configured many ways. Ours has the 500 psi pump (which we adjust to 375), heat, and the 2 stage vac. Additionally, we took more advise and purchased a very specialized $250 nozzle. It has been in service for over 18 months now and we could not be happier! The always hot high pressure/high lift system cleans extraordinarily well, and leaves the carpet just damp to the touch.

Almost always, you get what you pay for, and our unit cost ~$2300. Well worth it if you are doing the volume.

Like many other units, it does require TWO 15 amp circuits.

Jim

How many amps is a typical house setup for?

The DurrMaid requires 14amps is that good enough for use out of a personal garage?

Most house outlets are on 110volt 15 amp circuts. Sometimes you get lucky and find some on the 20 amp circuts. That's really another key factor in choosing. My Mytee GP 100 can't run at my house. it require 20 amp circuts minimum. 15 amp extractors are the key for mobil units having to use house electrcity.
