Carpet Cleaning Question...

I will be detailing a 94 acura legend next week. Im only doing the interior as i will be doing it after he gets a repaint, so the exterior wont need to be done. Anyways, i have seen the interior and the carpets look pretty nasty. Alot of set-in stains and spots. I was just wondering what u guys use for stain removal. I was just gonna use some of the otc carpet shampoo but i was thinking that there would be some type of mixture i could make at home for a fraction of the price that would work much better. Also, i have heard the pc can be used for carpet scrubbing. But, i dont know what to use as far as pads or if there is an attachment for cleaning carpets. Any ideas would be great.

Things such as woolite/water mix will work, oxyclean, maybe some apc would do the job. Search some of the threads and you'll find a ton more tips on how to get your job done. Good luck.

I HIGHLY recommend you find some Folex. There hasn't been a single stain that stuff couldn't get out or make less visible.

I was just at Wal Mart and could find that stuff. Folex just doesnt want to be found. I mean i saw the woolite but no Folex.

check home depot, lowes, target, whichever one of those you have around you. also maybe check their website for availability

There is a 4" brush you can use with a PC, but you'll need a 3.5" backing plate, and I've never really bothered using one of those brushes. To me it seems like more of a hassle than just using a small brush by hand:

Actually, the brushes screw into the PC like a backing plate. Unless TOL has something different. Folex can also be found in most major grocery chains; I'd also give Kids and Pets a try for odor/stain removal.

so is folex a spot treatment product or can it be mixed with water and used in a bucket and with the little green ?

I usually use folex for spot treatment, but it will work for the whole carpet. Just be sure to do a test spot.

on the folex website it says not to aggitate the spot or use brushes,

so i guess that does not have to be followed :nixweiss

I think it says to "blot" up the stains with a towel, but i've used a rubber brush to scrub stains away.
