Carnuba over Zaino?

I was reading about the ultimate shine on this site and was wondering if Zaino z3 would qualify as a base to Carnuba.

I Love the zaino on my black Porsche, but if carnuba over it is even better then I'm all for it!

Thanks you guys. I'm a total noob and I'm sure this is a dumb question.

IMHO, I would not top Zaino. Just use one or the other.

I think the general consensus is that subjectively, you aren't really going to be able to discern any noticeable difference in appearance when topping zaino. Zaino has such a distinctive look with great protective properties, I think it would be better to just leave it alone.

It’s a matter of preference.

On dark colors you’ll probably find that a good carnauba like Pinnacle Souveran, P21S, Chemical Guys 50/50 and others will improve the depth of the shine for most sealants, including Zaino’s Z5 and Z2.

I personally like the look of P21S over Z5, or Z5 topped with DuraGloss Aquawax.

Not at all, most detailers can see a noticable differance with differant product ranges (sealants or natural waxes) on their own vehicals.

Most professionals and car care enthusiasts could probably look at a detailed car and guess if it is topped with a natural wax, or synthetic sealant, if not by look alone, most likely by a combination of looks and feel.

I don't see the point in topping a sealant with carnauba.

If you like the look of the sealant, there's no reason to top it with anything.

If you prefer the look of carnauba, you're going to have to re-apply it regularly to maintain that look. But if you are applying carnauba regularly, then there is no need for the sealant.

PS: "carnauba" needs to be added to the spell-checker.

I agree and disagree also. I use to use AIO under PS but switched to RMG under PS and like the look better - deeper and wetter. I have put PS on top of Zaino and I feel it change the look of PS to be more reflective and less depth (not a look I’m looking for). Sometimes using sealants under wax provides addition durability and peace of mind but some times it can change the look adding different attributes to the wax. Would I put wax over Zaino on regular bases? Probably not – I use Zaino for durability on daily drivers so I can spend more time putting wax on my show cars.

Point taken. I've done half and half panels with Z5 pro and Z5 pro topped with Souveran and was very hard pressed to see any difference in "shine" If we're talking depth, then I can always see a difference. The OP was talking about this shine factor, so that's what I was going for. I figured when the OP said shine, we were looking at reflectivity of the lsp, and this is where i can't see any difference between zaino and zaino topped.

Sorry for any confusion.

In the past, I frequently topped sealants with pure carnauba for extra kick. 1Z GW topped with No.16 or PW being favorites. Zaino is quite different . . . I’ve tried various combinations, but all have failed to make any discernable impression. Also, some carnaubas tend to mute the Zaino finish . . . less brilliance and color, inconsistent white balance, or odd reflectivity.

When added gloss or depth is required, I simply top with Z8 ;)
