Carnuaba protects better.

joyriide1113

There is no cure!
Has anyone noticed that even though sealants last longer, carnuaba waxes seem to protect better against waterspots, bird poop, ect. Everytime birds bomb the car with sealants on, the mark of the poop stays for a couple weeks. Whenever They poop on carnuaba'd paint, they just wash off and don't leave any real lasting mark...

Any one else experience this or have any particular reason why?

Same thing with waterspots.

Maybe it is the oils in the carnauba that keep the water/bird bombs from adhering to the paint.

Last year i used Megs spray wax all summer and was amazed when the bird droppings came right off without sticking to the paint or leaving some bird etching behind..

+1 If you want to make the car easier to clean then carnaubas (while they are fresh) will do a great job at making things easy to wipe off. That effect doesn't last as long as it does on some sealants though. I am more concerned about paint fading than I am about wiping off the occasional bird bomb with greater ease.

I'm not sure about it's durability because i would use the spray wax after every wash 1 x a week or longer. sorry i couldn't help

isnt waxing more often yeilding the same protection that a 1 sealant every 6-7 months would basically? possibly even with a better shine/depth look?

probably,But i didn't know then what i have learned here..

I don't know if Carnuaba protects any better, but I do know this I use to use Zaino Z2Pro on my car and now I started using EX topped with Natty,s Blue and the first thing I noticed was when I got caught in a rain storm the other night my car will dryed itself off while driving home. That never happened in all the years I used Z2Pro so there must be something to say about Carnuaba waxes....:bigups

i prefer the look of carnuba on my ride but it but on light colored cars i like the bright look of sealer .

I'm going to have to get a cheap microscope or a loupe or something. I'm tired of this quasi-mytical speculation about what does what. Not sick and tired though, just tired.
I'd like to get a magnifier of some kind to see what a waxed panel looks like, and a sealed panel. Then watch each day for any changes.
Are there any studies done on things like this?

Interesting. Carnuaba does prevent water spots as it absorbs it and also rain dries up without leaving a single mark
I use wax over sealants
Best of both worlds

SOUNDS LIKE A JOB FOR YOU PEI. :howdy KEEP US POSTED...LOL

If you love the effects of Carnauba then I highly recommend QW+ for regular Maintenance. I use this stuff at least once a week.
I polished with PwC, topped with EX, which was topped by Natty's Blue. That's a lot of Carnauba :) I then use QW+ to Maintain protection.

I have also used the Meg's spray wax and it leaves a very nice shine with a very smooth surface. I use it all the time on the door jambs, trunk, and under the hood. Some of my customers tell me they come to me b/c of how good the doors look when they open them. Great product for the $$ and it's OTC.

I'm a carnauba man myself. Re-applying a natural wax every few weeks and getting awesome depth of shine and color just happens to be my personal preference. :)

Sounds like you may have done something wrong when applying
Zaino Harry, that is one of the things I love the most about Zaino. I haven't used wax recently but do remember it doing the same thing just not as drastic as the Zaino does. I think all freshly waxed or polished (sealant) cars should do that.

As far as carnuaba protecting better, I have never noticed ant difference. Bird crap seems to cause damage no matter what you use if you do not remove it quick enough. A lot depends on what the bird is eating on that particular day.

I'm with PEI on this. I've had mixed feelings in regards to which protects better. My personal experience leads me to believe that neither is superior to the other. The looks differ, there is no dispute, but I've had waxes like 845IW last longer than some of the "popular" sealants. This is on equally prepped surfaces. This is MHO, FWIW, YMMV....

Well I never used ZFX I used Z1 instead and I applied it the way Sal told me don't get me wrong Zaino was a awsome sealant but I like the wet look that Carnuaba gives my car Zaino looked really good but on my car it always looked like something was missing then I found Natty's blue and thats what I use now it gives me a deep wet look that Zaino didn't do ...

If you used Z1, Harry, and not ZFX, did you by chance use Z2 instead of Z2Pro?

Natty's is giving you a great look and I am glad. Nice pictures!!

The best thing about what we do is to have choices. I just want to make sure that you are comparing Z2Pro vs.Z2??? There is a big difference in the two products. Understand that I am not flaming you....Just was wondering?
